Annebel Club @ HF Verwoerd is growing! - The Ilze Halliday Foundation

Annebel Club @ HF Verwoerd is growing! - The Ilze Halliday Foundation

Yes people....I started with 8 girls, then we added one and just yesterday my friend and 'partner in crime' at the school informed me that I need to get some extra goody-bags, because another 2 girls joined the club! How exciting is that!

Santa Shoebox Update - The Ilze Halliday Foundation

Well, I've found a possible venue at our church and am holding thumbs (and praying like mad) that the church counsel will agree to having us use their hall during that week in October.
In the meantime I'm busily sourcing back-ups....so, if you should know about a venue, please don't hesitate to contact me immediately.
I am also looking for facilities to register for gifts. Facilities like schools, daycare centers, children's homes and places of safety, will be considered by management.
In addition to this, I am starting to source items and people to sponsor items for shoeboxes.
Please, if anyone can be of assistance or if you are interested in becoming a volunteer, let me know.

Regarding the website......I still have the pages about Annebel Foundation and Wolmer Community Project to complete, then it will all be over and done with (sigh!). The Santa Shoebox Project-pages are all done and you can have a look at them by clicking here.
I've been busy during the past week and finally applied to be of assistance at another project too....the Reach for a Dream Foundation. The selection process is quite intense and not just anyone can become a volunteer; so I'm waiting patiently for the results. Will keep you all updated, though.
I am also planning a reading program. This is still in its 'how to'-phase, but the basic idea is just that I had this idea of going to daycare centers and playgroups, reading to the children. But also, not just READING a story...I want to make it interesting..like wearing a costume or a wig, perhaps getting the kids involved by playing dress-up or using puppets... I think it might work, but I really have to think it through carefully before I give it a test run!
That's it then, for now, people. Have a wonderful Friday tomorrow and enjoy the week-end!
God bless!

SSB - what a week!

Since our meeting on Wednesday, I've actually done the following:

1) Began sourcing for venues and new facilities
2) Actually found a possible venue (at our church - Rietfontein Baptist Church), but it has to be approved by
the church council who has a meeting on the 8th of March - HOLD THUMBS PEOPLE!!
3) Inquired about alternative venues (I am not a trusting person, and want to keep ALL options open, you
see...what if the church declines my request?). A friend gave me plenty ideas about places that may be
possible so the coming week will see me contacting a few people.
4) Sourcing the facilities starting yesterday and the same 'venue-idea-friend' has a few contacts at children's
homes, retreats and places of safety around the rural, Northern parts of Pretoria....she'll get the contact
details and I'm holding thumbs that most of these facilities will be suited for the purpose of SSB.

Well, today I'm sitting in front of my computer (no surprise there) and hoping to update my site and finish some of the pages there that still needs some love and attention.

I'll keep you posted, but in the meantime....please contact me if you know about a venue we can use from the 23rd to the 30th of October for the 'drop-off'. Said venue should be in Pretoria Moot, North or Montana areas  have ample parking, preferably little or no stairs, and it must be secure for keeping the boxes in storage during the week. It would be really great if the venue's owners will consider allowing us to use the facilities as their way of 'donating' to the cause.
