The week so far....drop-off for Santa Shoebox, remember!!!

The Ilze Halliday Foundation - Blog

What a busy week its been! Santa Shoebox Project 2013 drop-off in Pretoria is kicking off tomorrow. Yesterday saw us setting up shop in Pretoria North/Magalieskruin at the very generous NG church Magalieskruin. Without their help this would not have been possible at all.
I had my little ones push trolleys filled with gifts from my home to drop-off (thanks kids!! Such a help it was indeed..sorry you guys got so tired and sweaty!) while the team helped me to set up the whole operation. Lisanne (miss Logistics 2013 in my view) were at the head of all this...the planning of the where to put what...amazing job you did, girl! Thanks ever so much! Dorette, you are one cool lady....Suzanne with your beautiful British accent....love you to death, girl! Lynn, always smiling and supportive and Nicole....bringing some style to the venue by just being there! The volunteers were also wonderful and I am looking forward to working with them during the next three days (yes, I know it sounds like a movie...but whatever floats your boat...).
I need to thank my donors....without them this entire operation will be impossible...Annalie Lewis from LA Sport, Derek Pretorius from Pretoria North Toyota, Hannelie de Beer from NG church Magalieskruin (not only for your generous donation, but also for all the support you gave during set-up - the emotional support as well!), the ladies from Deltamune, Centurion who heralded the opening of drop-off by bringing the first ever pledged boxes to the venue and Michelle Malan and her lovely friend who donated teen clothing at the last minute...may you all be blessed.
So people, next time we speak this entire Shoebox-business is nearly at its end. Only the celebrations to go and the year is done....but we are far from finished and sourcing for next year's sponsors are already underway. So if you want to get involved with us in 2014...contact me NOW! You will NOT be disappointed....I promise LOTS of action and also, LOTS of friendship and love.
What greater thing than to help our little people grow into great adults...let us then be the example and help them to 'create a culture of caring'.
